"ALLHALLOWS, a parish in the ward of Allerdale-below-Derwent, in the county of Cumberland, 7 miles to the S.W. of Wigton. The river Ellen flows along the southern boundary of the parish, and the Maryport and Carlisle railway passes near it. Coal is obtained here, but not of good quality; and there are quarries of limestone and freestone. The living is a perpetual curacy in the diocese of Carlisle, value £80, in the patronage of the bishop. Allhallows was formerly a chapelry included in the parish of Aspatria."
