"KINGMOOR, an extra parochial place in the ward of Eskdale, county Cumberland, 3 miles N.W. of Carlisle. It is situate on the high road from Carlisle to Scotland, and has recently much increased in population. It belongs to the corporation of Carlisle, the freemen of which city have long been accustomed to hold their guild races here on Ascension Day. There is a village school."
