Church History

  • It appears that there was a Christian church here before the Norman Conquest.
     
  • The Chapel of Ease was a small structure with a tower and two bells.
     
  • The chapel was dedicated to Saint Giles.
     
  • The chapel was completely renovated in 1843.
     
  • The chapel was restored in 1865.
     
  • The chapel seats 80.

  • Apparently the chapel was not licensed to perform marriages; those were performed at Stapenhill.
