Will of James Norton, Servant (1807)

I James Norton of the Parish of Alwington in the County of Devon late Servant to the Revd Thomas Morrison of the Parish of Alwington in the said County do make and appoint this Writing to be and contain my last Will and Testament in manner following (that is to say) ffirst of all I recommend my Soul into the hands of Almighty God that gave it And my Body I commit to the Earth to be buried in a decent Christian Burial at the Discretion of my Exor and Executrix nothing doubting but at the General Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the Almighty Power of God and as touching Such Worldly Goods as it has pleased Almighty God to bless me with in this Life I give demise and dispose of the same in the following manner ffirst I will that all my just Debts and ffuneral Expenses be paid and discharged by my Executors and Executrix hereinafter mentioned Also I Give and bequeath to James Norton son of my late Brother William Norton of the Parish of Hillisleigh in the Said County the Sum of Twenty Pounds for and towards the Putting him up to Some Trade Also I give to Jonathan Laskey son of my Sister Mary Laskey of the Parish of Cheriton Bishop in the Said County the Sum of Twenty Pounds for and towards the bringing him up to Some Trade as each of their ffather and Mother shall think Proper I also give to Mary Daughter of William Norton of Hillisleigh the Sum of one pound one shilling Also I give to Elizabeth Chalk Servant to Miss Morrisons of the Parish of Alwington in the Said County One Deed Poll of Biddeford Turnpike to be delivered at my Decease Also I give and bequeath All the Rest Residue and Remainder of my Monies and Securities for Money household Goods and ffurniture And all my Personal and testamentary Effects whatsoever unto my father William Norton of the said Parish Cheriton Bishop And William Norton my Brother of Hillisleigh and Mary Laskey my Sister of Cheriton Bishop in the Said County except a Burwan Bed which I give to my Sister Mary only to be kept for her use and to be disposed at her Decease as she thinks proper And I do hereby make nominate constitute and appoint my said ffather Brother and Sister William Nortons and Mary Laskey Whole and Sole Executors and Executrix of this my last Will and Testament In Witness Whereof I the said James Norton the Testator have to this my last Will and Testament contained in two Sheets of Paper Set my hand and Seal the Tenth Day of March in the Year of our Lord One thousand Eight hundred And seven James Norton
