The obituary was presented at the Association’s July 1912 Exeter meeting. A section entitled “Rich and Poor” with details about the Robinson family of Holne Cross Mansion, Ashburton, is included in local historian Anne Bligh’s highly informative Old Ashburton web page. Of Mr Robinson’s mother, she writes ”The funeral of Mrs Blythe Robinson of Holne Cross Mansion took place at Torquay Cemetery on 23rd July 1910. Susanna Robinson's death is shown in the Newton Abbot district in the September quarter of 1910 - she was 94”. (Extracted from the Western Times 29 July 1910 p10 col.1) available at: http://www.freebmd.org.uk/ . In the 1911 census, her son Charles Edward Robinson is living at Holne Cross with his sister Henrietta Maria. He is a Civil Engineer, she a Gentlewoman, living on private means.  In the summer of 1912 the house, described as an important residential property, was for sale. (From Exeter and Plymouth Gazette 22 June 1912 p1, col.4). The obituary may be found in a copy of a rare and much sought-after journal that can be downloaded from the Internet Archive. Google has sponsored the digitisation of books from several libraries. These books, on which copyright has expired, are available for free educational and research use, both as individual books and as full collections to aid researchers.

Mr. Robinson died suddenly at Holne Cross, Ashburton, where he resided with his sister, on 29 March, 1912, in the sixty-seventh year of his age. He was the Resident Engineer in connection with the construction of the Blagdon Waterworks, from which Bristol is supplied with water. For some years he was a member of the Dart Board of Conservators, taking much interest in various schemes for improving the fishing in the river. He joined the Association in 1892, and took an active interest in its proceedings, serving on the Council, and till recent years was a regular attendant at the Annual Meetings.
