The Domesday Hundreds, Part 5: The Hundred of Teignbridge

Trans. Devon. Assoc. vol. 29, (1897) pp. 225-244.

by

Oswald J. Reichel

Prepared by Michael Steer

Teignbridge Hundred is the name of one of 32 ancient administrative units of Devon. The parishes in the hundred were: Ashburton, Bickington, Bovey Tracey, Hennock, Highweek, Ideford, Ilsington, Kingsteignton, Lustleigh, Manaton, Moretonhampstead, North Bovey and Teigngrace. There were 34 tax-paying places within the Hundred mentioned in Domesday Book. Google with the Archive Organization has sponsored the digitisation of books from several libraries. The Internet Archive makes available, in its Community Texts Collection (originally known as Open Source Books), books that have been digitised by Google from a number of libraries. These are books on which copyright has expired, and are available free for educational and research use. This rare book was produced from a copy held by the New York Public Library, and is available from the Internet Archive.
