AWLISCOMBE, a parish in the hundred of HEMYOCK, county of DEVON, 2 miles (W. by N.) from Honiton, containing 513 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Exeter, rated in the king's books at £12. 10. 10., and in the patronage of the Duke of Bedford. The church, dedicated to St. Michael, has a finely ornamented window in the south transept, and a stone screen. The river Otter bounds the parish on the south.
