In the Goods of Betty Merson deceased.

Appeared Personally Joan Merson of Waterhouse in Bampton in the County of Devon, Spinster the Daughter and one of the Executrixes named in the last Will and Testament of Betty Merson late of Bampton aforesaid widow deceased
who died on the 30th Day of August 1843 and made oath that she hath made diligent search and due inquiry after, and in respect of the Personal Estate and Effects of the said Deceased, in order to ascertain the full Amount and Value thereof; and that to the best of her Knowledge, Information and Belief, the whole of the Goods, chattels, and Credits of which the said Deceased died possessed within the Archdeaconry of Exeter, (exclusive of what the Deceased may have been possessed of or entitled to as a Trustee for any other Person or Persons, and not beneficially, (A) ???ding the Leasehold Estates for Years of the Deceased, whether absol???? Determined on Lives, and without deducting any thing on account of the Debts due and owing from the Deceased,) are under the Value of Six hundred Pounds, to the best of this Deponents Knowledge, Information, and Belief, (B) And the Deponent lastly made Oath, that the said Deceased was not possessed of entitled to any Leasehold Estate or Estate for Years of the Deceased, whether absolute or determinable on a Life or Lives, to the best of this Deponents Knowledge, Information, and Belief.

This is the last Will and Testament of me Betty Merson of Bampton in the Count of Devon Widow made this eighth day of February in the year one thousand eight hundred and forty two. I give unto my two sons Francis and Daniel and to my two Sons-in-Law Francis Merson and John Harvey a crape hat band and pair of Gloves each. I give and bequeath all the rest residue and remainder of my Estate and Effects both real and personal and wheresoever situate unto my three Daughters Sarah Merson, Wilmot Harvey and Joan Merson their Heirs Executors Administrators and assigns equally to be divided between them as Tenants infornow And I declare that the Legacies or Portions hereintofore given to such of my said Daughters as at the time of my decease shall be married women are given to them respectively to be enjoyed and disposed of as their separate property free from marital control. And for which Legacies or Portions their respective Receipts shall be sufficient discharges. And I appoint them my said three Daughters Executrixes of this my Will hereby revoking all former Wills by me made. In Witness thereof I have hereunto set my hand....the day and year first above written
