Will of Mary Carder, widow, of Barnstaple

In the Name of God, Amen I Mary Carder of Barnstaple in the County of Devon Widdow being sick and weak of Body but of sound and perfect Mind & Memory praised be Allmighty God for the same do make and ordaine this to be my last Will and Testament in manner and form following First and principally I comend my Soul into the hands of Almighty God my Creator trusting through the Meritts of Jesus Christ my only Saviour and Redeemer to receive pardon and forgiveness of all my Sins and my Body I commit to the earth in a decent Christian Buriall And as for the Estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me I give & bequeath the same in manner following In the first place I will & desire that all my just debts and funerall expenses be paid and discharged with as much speed as possible Item I gve unto Richard Parminter of Pilton in the said County Merchant and Robert Tristram of Barnstaple aforesaid Merchant All that my Tenem^t or Dwellinghouse scituate lying in Holland Street within the Town of Barnstaple aforesaid wherein my Sister Judith Wife of Daniel Snow now liveth To hold unto the said Richard Parminter and Robert Tristram and the survivor of them & the exo^rs adm^rs & assigns of such survivor for and during the naturall life of the said Judith Snow Upon Trust to receive the rents issues and profits thereof and to pay over the same unto the said Judith Snow during her naturall life to & for her sole and separate use benefit & behoofe & not subject or lyable to the power controll or disposall of the said Daniel Snow her said husband And from and after the death and decease of my said Sister Judth Snow I give devise and bequeath the same Dwelling House unto Robert Beare her Son To have and to hold the said Dwellinghouse unto the said Robert Beare his heirs and assigns for ever Item I give unto the Congregation or Meeting which I now frequent in Cross Street Barnstaple aforesaid two pounds a year for and during the full Term of Twenty years next after my decease to be issuing and payable out of the Dwellinghouse wherein I now live and the Garden thereunto belonging Item I give and bequeath unto the said Richard Parminter and Robert Tristram & the survivor of them and the exo^rs and adm^rs of such survivor a certaine Annuity of Four pounds yearly and every year during the lifetime of my said Sister Judith Snow to be issuing & payable Quarterly out of my said Dwellinghouse wherein I now live & the Garden thereunto belonging to be by them received to and for the sole and separate use and benefit of my said Sister Judith Snow exclusive of her said husband during her naturall life Item I give devise and bequeath unto Andrew Carder the said Dwellinghouse wherein I live & the Garden thereunto belonging for and during all the Right Interest and Term which I have therein Subject and lyable nevertheless the the paym^t of the said Two Pounds a year and the said Annuity of Four Pounds Item I give devise and bequeath unto the said Richard Parminter & Robert Tristram All that Dwellinghouse lying in Holland Street within the Towne of Barnstaple aforesd wherein William Jermain now lives To have and to hold the same unto the said Richard Parminter and Robert Tristram their heirs and assigns for ever Upon Trust nevertheless to employ the rents issues and profits of the said Dwellinghouse for ever to & for the use benefit & advantage of the said Meeting or Congregation in Cross Street afores^d and to & for no other use intent or purpose whatsoever Item I give and bequeath unto Mr George Bowcher Two Broad Peices of Gold All the rest residue and remainder of my goods chattles personall & Testamentary Estate whatsoever not hereinbefore given & bequeathed after my debts paid and funerall expences discharged I give & bequeath unto and amongst the Children of the said Richard Parminter and Robert Tristram equally to be divided between them And of this my Will I make the said Richard Parminter & Robert Tristram Exo^rs in Trust to see the same performed In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seale the Seventeenth day of Aprill Anno Dno One thousand seven hundred and twenty five ___ The Marke of Mary Carder (Seal) Signed sealed published & declared by the Testatrix to be her last Will & Testam^t in presence of us who have hereunto set our hands in the presence of the said Testatrix _____ John Parminter _____ James Picca _____ Henry Beavis
