A History of the Church at Bideford and Some of Its Rectors
Trans. Devon Assoc. vol. 34 (1902), pp. 201-222.

R. Granville
Prepared by Michael Steer
The Grenville (variously Granville) family were for century's lords of the manor of Bideford and played a major role in the town's development. A monument with an effigy of Sir Thomas Grenville (d.1513) is in St Mary's Church. Bideford's famed son, Sir Richard Grenville (1542-1591) was born in the manor house. The family had another seat at Stow House, Kilkhampton, in Cornwall. A monument with the effigy of Sir Thomas Grenville (d.1513) is also in the parish church of St Mary. Google with the Archive Organization has sponsored the digitisation of books from several libraries. The Internet Archive makes available, in its Community Texts Collection (originally known as Open Source Books), books that have been digitised by Google from a number of libraries. These are books on which copyright has expired, and are available free for educational and research use. This rare book was produced from a copy held by the New York Public Library, and is available from the Internet Archive.
