In the Name of God Amen I Simon Carder of Bideford in the County of Devon Potter being infirm in Body but of a sound and disposing mind memory and understanding Praised be God for the same Do make and ordain this to be my last Will and Testament in the first Place I commend my Soul into the Hands of Almighty God and my Body to be Interred at the Discretion of my Executors In Trust hereinafter mentioned and as for such Worldly Estate and Effects as hath pleased God to bless me with I give devise and bequeath the same in manner following ffirst I give to my Dear Wife the Sum of Ten Pounds to be paid her immediately after my Decease I also give her the Sum of three Shillings to be Paid her Weekly and every week by my said Executors as long as she remains my widow but no longer I also give her the Liberty of Dwelling in my Dwelling House at the Lower end of Cooper Street during such time as she remains my Widow and in case that falls away then my Executors in Trust To Provide her a House during the above period Also I give and bequeath unto my Sister Mary Carder my two Messuages or Dwelling Houses at the Bottom of High Street in Bideford aforesaid To hold the same to her and her Assigns during the Term of her natural life but no longer All the rest residue and remainder of my Goods Chattels Lands Tenements and Hereditaments not herein before disposed of After Payment of my Debts and ffuneral Expences I do give Devise and bequeath unto my Good friend Humphry Carder of Barnstaple and Mr Henry Cole of Bideford In Trust nevertheless for the Purposes herein after mentioned (that is to say) In the first place to pay to my said Brother Humphry Carder the Sum of ffifty Pounds two Months after my Decease and also to deliver to my Brother Andrew Carder All my Wearing Apparel (Plate Excepted) and all the rest of my Estate and Effects to be to the Sole use and benefit of my ffive Daughters Priscilla Susanna Elizabeth and Ann equally to be Divided between them share and share alike as Tenants in common but not as Joint Tenants their Heirs and Assigns for ever But it is my Will that if either of my said Children shall die before she shall arrive to the age of twenty one Years that the share of such Child or Children shall go the Survivors of them and I do will and order that my Executors In Trust shall continue to pay to my Mother the weekly Sum of one Shilling and Six Pence during her natural life In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal and Published and Declared this to be my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former Wills by me made this third Day of October in the Year of our Lord Christ one thousand Seven hundred and eighty one Simon Carder
