BRANSCOMBE

[Description(s) from The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland (1868)]

"BRANSCOMBE, a parish in the hundred of Colyton, in the county of Devon, 4 miles to the E. of Sidmouth, its post town. It is pleasantly situated on the sea-coast, on a bay of the same name, and contains some valuable quarries of limestone. The living is a vicarage* in the diocese of Exeter, of the value of £190, in the patronage of the Dean and Chapter of Exeter. The church is dedicated to St. Winifred."
