CHIVELSTONE, a parish in the hundred of COLERIDGE,county of DEVON, 6 miles (S. E. by S.) fromKingsbridge, containing 637 inhabitants. The living isa perpetual curacy, annexed to the vicarage of Stokingham,in the archdeaconry of Totness, and diocese ofExeter. The church is dedicated to St. Sylvester. AtFord there is a meeting-house for dissenters.
