This is the last Will and Testament of me Mary Smerdon of the Parish of Christow in the County of Devon Spinster I give and bequeath to my nephew John Smerdon Cornish a Table Gravy Spoon marked M.S to my nephew Thomas Smerdon Cornish a tablespoon marked M.L to M.S and another marked M.A to M.L to my niece Elizabeth Smerdon Prew six tea spoons marked J and a brooch marked M.S. to my niece Mary Smerdon Dinning a silver cream jug her grandmother's wedding ring a tea caddy a patch counterpart and a gold brooch marked E.H.M.S to my niece Sarah Holman Smerdon Buncombe a mourning ring marked Sarah Holman and a table spoon marked J.J. to M.S to my niece Dinah Smerdon Cornish a silver knife a pair of decanter stands my best white bed quilt and a pair of holland bed sheets Also I give to my sister in law Mary Smerdon Widow my high chest of drawers a turn up bed performed two tea trays a china plate six china coffee cups silver sugar tongs marked J.H to M.S and a chaste edged mourning ring and to my niece Mary Elizabeth Smerdon a silver tea pot and stand tea and a coffee urns a pair of plated candlesticks marked M.S a bed performed clock in the hall decanter stands a locket and a seal with the impression Plenty Also I give and bequeath to my nephew Hugh John Smerdon all my other plate linen china furniture and books And I give devise and bequeath all my real Estate and the rest and Residue of my Personal Estate including my money in the ffunds and Savings Banks and what I may have in my Bankers hands at my death and otherwise unto my nephew the said Hugh John Smerdon his heirs executors administrators and assigns upon trust to convert such parts thereof as shall not consist of money into money and to retain and keep one moiety of the net proceeds after deducting the costs charges and expences of establishing and proving this my Will to his and their own use and benefit and to pay and divide the remaining moiety of such net proceeds to and equally between my said nephews and nieces John Smerdon Cornish Thomas Smerdon Cornish Hugh Smerdon Cornish Elizabeth Smerdon Prew Mary Smerdon Dinning Sarah Holman Smerdon Buncombe Dinah Smerdon Cornish and Mary Elizabeth Smerdon his and her executors administrators and assigns and I appoint the said Hugh John Smerdon sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament and direct him to wind up his Executorship account within one year next after my decease In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this twenty second day of August one thousand eight hundred and forty nine Mary Smerdon
