CHURCH-STANTON, a parish in the hundred ofHEMYOCK, county of DEVON, 11 miles (N. by E.) fromHoniton, containing 862 inhabitants. The living is arectory, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Exeter,rated in the king's books at £26. 5. 5., and in the patronageof the Rev. J. Clarke. The church is dedicatedto St. Paul: one hundred and fourteen free sittings haverecently been added, towards defraying the expense ofwhich, the Incorporated Society for the enlargement ofchurches and chapels granted £80. There is a small endowed school.
