In the name of God Amen The Sixte daye of Auguste in the yeare of Our Lorde God One Thousande Sixe hundreth and ffyve I Thomas Rowswell of Cleyhidon in the countye of Devon, sick of bodye but (thanks be to Allmightie God) of perfecte memorye, do make this my laste will and Testamente in manner and forme followinge. / ffirst I geve and bequeathe my soule unto Allmightie God my onelie redeemer and Savyour. / And my bodye to the Holye buryal. / Item I geve to the maynetennce of the Churche of Clayhidon ffive shillings. / Item I geve to the poore of the parishe of Clayhidon ffyve shillinges to be devided by the discretyon of my Executrix. / Item I geve unto Thomas my sonne One hundred poundes of lawefull Englishe money and my sylver Bolle to be payde and delyvered within Three moneths after my Death unto John Cade my brother, to William Cade of Halse, and to Gerrerde Harris of Bucklande to be by them employed to the Best use and benifytt for the said Thomas my sonne untill he the saide Thomas my sonne shall accomplishe the age of Twenty and one years. / Item I geve and bequeathe to Alexander my sonne ffoure score poundes of laweful Englishe money and my sylver salte to be payde and delyvered unto the fore said John Cade, William Cade, and the sayde Gerrard Harris within Three monethes after my decease to be by them employed to the beste use and benyfytte for the said Alexander my sonne until he the said Alexander my sonne shall accomplise the age of Twentye and one yeares. / And then the said John Cade, William Cade, and the said Gerrard Harris shall well be truelye contente and paye unto my said sonnes Thomas and Alexander their severall somes of money with the proffytte thereof truelye accounpted to them and to everye of them. / Item I geve to Anthony my sonne Thirty poundes of lawefull English money, And my brasse Kettle to be payde and delyvered within Three monethes after my deathe unto the saide John Cade Willyam Cade, and to the saide Gerrard Harris, and by them to be used and employed to the use of my sonne Anthonye, As I have appointed by this my will for my sonnes Thomas and Alexander And my will is that if anie one or more of my children dye before they accomplishe the age of Twentye one yeares, then suche porcon as I have geven them, shall equallie devided to them that lyves with the proffytte thereof to be payde at Twentye one yeares of age. / The rest of all my goods and Cattel, my debtes and legacies contented and payde, my funerall discharged I do geve unto Anne my wife, whom doe I make my sole Executrix of this my last will and Testamente. / In wytnes hereof I have hereunto sett my hand in the presence of William Lee (Clerck), John Asheton, Henrye Kellwaye, and John Cade. / more geven by the Testator Item to Edwarde Chave ffortye shillings. / To Jone ffaux ffyve shillinges. / To Anne Harris twelve pence. / To Katheren Nicholles two shillings
