CLYST-HYDON

"CLIST-HYDON, a parish in the hundred of Cliston, in the county of Devon, 4 miles S. of Collumpton, its post town, and 3 N. of the Hole station on the Great Western railway. It is situated on the river Clyst, which rises in the vicinity. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Exeter, value £440, in the patronage of Mrs. Huyshe, who is lady of the manor. The church, dedicated to St. Andrew, is an ancient stone edifice, with stained-glass windows. There is a school, called Hall's school, endowed with £17 per annum, and other charities to the same amount.
