Will of William Rosewell, Combe Raleigh, Devon (12 October 1878) This is the last Will and Testament of me William Rosewell of Combe Raleigh in the County of Devon Farmer as follows. First I direct my Executors hereinafter named to pay all of my just debts funeral and testamentary expenses. I give to each of my unmarried children which may be living at home at the time of my decease the sum of Fifty pounds this sum to be paid them within twelve months after my decease and I charge and bind my personal estate to and with the payment thereof. I give and bequeath my money and securities for money household goods and furniture farming stock money secured by Policies of Insurance and all other my personal estate and effects whatsoever unto my wife Sarah to and for her natural life and from and immediately after her death I give devise and bequeath the same unto William Bright and my son William Rosewell both of Combe Raleigh aforesaid upon trust to pay and divide the same to and amongst my ten children, namely, William, James, Jonathan, Henry, Sarah Ann, Mary Ann, Tom, Jesse, Elizabeth Ann and Lucy Ann share and share alike but so that the share of William shall be subject to a deduction of Eighty pounds, the share of James to a deduction of Forty pounds the share of Jonathan to a deduction of Fifty pounds, the share of Henry to a deduction of Fifty pounds, and the share of Sarah Ann to a deduction of One hundred pounds but the share of Mary Ann, Tom, Jesse, Elizabeth Ann, and Lucy Ann shall be Ten pounds more than the rest but in case any of my said children should die in my lifetime leaving issue, the share of him or her so dying shall go and be divided amongst his or her children but in case any of my unmarried children should happen to die in my lifetime the share of him or her so dying shall go and be divided amongst the survivors. I give and bequeath unto each of my children that shall be at home at the time of my decease a Feather Bed and Bolster and I also give unto each of my three daughters a pair of chest of Drawers. And I further declare that in case any of my children who may be at home at the time of making this my will should marry and receive his or her marriage portion that such sum of money shall be deducted from the share which he or her shall be entitled to at my death. And lastly I hereby nominate constitute and appoint the said William Bright and my son William Rosewell Executors of this my will herby revoking all former wills. In witness whereof I the said Testator have hereunder set my hand this fourteenth day of March One thousand eight hundred and seventy seven

Proved at Exeter the twelfth day of October 1878 by the Oaths of William Bright and William Rosewell, the Son, the Executors to whom administration was granted.
The Testator William Rosewell was late of Combe Raleigh in the County of Devon Farmer and died on the eighteenth day of May 1878 at Combe Raleigh aforesaid
