"COOKBURY, a parish in the hundred of Black Torrington, in the county of Devon, 4 miles N.E. of Holsworthy, its post town. The living is a perpetual curacy annexed to the rectory* of Milton Damerell, in the diocese of Exeter, in the patronage of the Rev. W. D. Anderson. The church, dedicated to St. John the Baptist, is an ancient edifice in the early English style. The charities produce about £10 per annum."
