Will of Simon Leach, Yeoman of Crediton

In the name of God Amen.The twentie fyff day of March in the yeare of our Lord God one thousand six hundred thirtie and seaven, I Simon Leach of Crediton  in the County of Devon yeoman being of good health and of perfect memory thankes be given to allmighty god doe make this my last will and Testament in manner and forme following First I com[m]end my soule into the hands of allmighty god and my body to xr[ist]ian buriall. Item I doe give and bequeath unto Mary my wife the full som[m]e of threescore and tenn pounds of lawfull money of England to be payed unto her w[i]thin six moneths after my death yf she be then liveing and soe long as shee liveth the use of all my houshould goods and after her death my will is the said goods shall remaine unto my executor hereafter named And moreover I doe give and bequeath unto the said Mary my wife seaven and fortie pounds of lawfull money of England to be payed unto her within two moneths after my death : Condic[i]onally and soe as yf Samuell Luxton her brother doe deliver unto my executor an obligac[i]on to be cancelled and defaced wherein I stand bounden unto the said Samuell in one hundred pounds for the payment of Fyftie pounds for the good and benefitt of the said Mary my wife Item I doe give and bequeath unto two of my daughters vizt Margaret Leach and Joane Leach one hundred and fourscore pounds a peece of lawfull money of England to be paied to each of them within one yeare after my decease Item I doe give and bequeath unto my daughter Judeth one hundred and fourscore pounds of lawfull money of England to be payed unto her within two yeares after my decease Alsoe I doe give unto the said Judeth fyve pounds more to be paied unto her within one yeare after my decease Item my will is that yf it shall happen any of theis my daughters abovemenc[i]oned shall fortune to dye w[i]thin a yeare after my decease That then her or their porc[i]on shall remaine amongst them abovemenc[i]oned that are then liveing Item I doe give unto my daughter Mary Wytter fortie shillings to be payed unto her w[i]thin one yeare after my decease Item I doe give unto the poore people of Crediton aforesaid six pounds to be distributed amongst them when I am dead or at my buriall Item all the rest of my goods not given and bequeathed I doe give and bequeath unto my sonne Simon Leach whome I doe make my wholle and sole executor Item I doe desire and intreate John Leach and George Leach my brothers to be my Rulers and overseers of this my last will and Testament And for their paines therein taken my will is to give them twenty shillings a peece Simon Leach Sealed and confirmed in the presence of us Nic: Slee Teste me Josepho Slee
