DODDISCOMBSLEIGH, a parish in the hundred of EXMINSTER, county of DEVON, 6 miles (S. W.) from Exeter, containing 356 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Exeter, rated in the king's books at £16. 6. 5½ and in the patronage of the Rev. George Hole. The church is dedicated to St. Michael. There was formerly a chapel at a place called Sheldon, in this parish. Here is a small endowed charity school.
