BUCKLAND (EAST), a parish in the hundred of BRAUNTON, though locally in the hundred of South Molton, county of DEVON, 5 miles (N. W. by N.) from South Molton, containing 165 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, consolidated with that of Buckland-Filleigh, in the archdeaconry of Barnstaple, and diocese of Exeter, rated in the king's books at £9. 1. 8. The church is dedicated to St. Michael. There is a place of worship for Wesleyan Methodists.
