Raleghana, Part 2: Remarks on the ancestry of Sir William Ralegh
Trans. Devon. Assoc. vol. 30, 1898, illus. pp. 158-197.
by
T.N. Brushfield
Prepared by Michael Steer
This paper is the second in a series on the life and career of Sir Walter Raleigh, written and delivered at the Association's 1898 Honiton meeting by Thomas Nadauld Brushfield, MD, FSA. (1828-1910). All papers in the series were later aggregated and published as a book. This paper focusses on the introduction of the potato and tobacco into England and Ireland, both attributed to Sir Walter, and debates whether or not their introduction might be assigned in whole or part to others. Google with the Archive Organization has sponsored the digitisation of books from several libraries. The Internet Archive makes available, in its Community Texts Collection (originally known as Open Source Books), books that have been digitised by Google from a number of libraries. These are books on which copyright has expired, and are available free for educational and research use. This rare book was produced from a copy held by the New York Public Library, and is available from the Internet Archive.
