Sir J.B. Phear
Prepared by Michael Steer
Sir John Budd Phear (1825-1905) was relatively well published and considered an authority on hydrostatics and mechanics. Phear was also an early president of the Asiatic Society, formed in 1784 to "enhance and further the cause of oriental research". This paper, read at the Association's 1891 Tiverton meeting was a critical analysis and supplement to Dr Brushfield's paper, read at the Barnstaple meeting in the preceding year. Google with the Archive Organization has sponsored the digitisation of books from several libraries. The Internet Archive makes available, in its Community Texts Collection (originally known as Open Source Books), books that have been digitised by Google from a number of libraries. These are books on which copyright has expired, and are available free for educational and research use. This rare book was produced from a copy held by the University of Michigan Library, and is available from the Internet Archive.
