The author was also a Member of the Archaeological Society of Great Britain and Ireland. He delivered this paper to the Diocesan Architectural Society at its quarterly meeting on January 8, 1852. He appears to have been among the first volunteer officers commissioned in 1852 by the Queen into the First Volunteer Rifle Regiment at Exeter. He also delivered papers to the Society on the Church at Haccombe (1867), and the monumental brasses of Devonshire. This rare book was produced from a digital copy held by the University of Michigan Library that can be downloaded from Google Books. Those on which copyright has expired are available for free educational and research use, both as individual books and as full collections to aid researchers.
