In the Name of God Amen
I Mathew WINGYETT of the Parish of Saint John in the City of Exeter Confectioner do make this my last Will and Testament I give and bequeath unto my Son Joseph WINGYETT the Sum of fifty pounds to be paid within nine months after my death I give devise and bequeath unto my dear Wife Mary WINGYETT all and singular my Lands Tenements Hereditaments and Premises with the Appurtenances situate lying and being in the parish of Saint Paul in the said City of Exeter and also all that my Leasehold Messuage Tenement and premises with the Appurtenances situate lying and being in the said parish of Saint John where I now live to hold the same respectively unto my said wife and her Assigns for and during the term of her natural life or widowhood without impeachment of or for any manner of waste and from and immediately after the decease of my said wife or her second marriage then I give devise and bequeath the said Messuages Tenements and Hereditaments in Saint Paul's and Saint John's aforesaid unto my Son Matthew WINGYETT my Daughter Mary the Wife of Richard PAUL my son James Britnell WINGYETT my son William WINGYETT my daughter Charlotte KINGWELL my daughter Jane WINGYETT and also unto my two Granddaughters Ann and Mary BASS Children of my late deceased Daughter Ann BASS it being my wish that my said Grandchildren shall take and enjoy the same share in the said Lands which I intended their Mother to have enjoyed if living their Heirs Executors Administrators and Assigns respectively to be equally divided between them share and share alike as Tenants in common and not as joint Tenants. And I do hereby empower my said Wife during her natural life or widowhood to lease all or any part of the said Messuages Tenements or Dwellinghouses for any time not exceeding twenty one years in possession but not in reversion remainder or expectancy so as in every such Lease thereby issued and made payable the best and most yearly Rent or Rents that can or may be obtained for this same also so as in every such Lease there be contained a Clause of a clause of Re-entry on nonpayment of the Rent or Rents to be thereby reserved and so as the Lessee or Lessors write counterparts of such Leases provided and I do direct that if my said Daughter Jane WINGYETT shall wish to continue the Business of a Confectioner on her own account that then she shall be at liberty and have the preference of purchasing the said house in which I now reside and the fixtures and utensils in trade at a fair valuation by two different persons one to be chosen by her and one by my Executor but if she shall not choose to continue the said Business then and in that case my said Son William shall have the like liberty and preference of continuing it and of purchasing the said house and fixtures and utensils on such Valuation as aforesaid but if my said Daughter Jane shall purchase the said ?house I direct that my said Son William shall keep possession of the Bakehouse and Shop part at the same House at the same Rent he now pays for the same and no more for so long time as he thinks proper All the Rest Residue and Remainder of my Goods Chattels Stock and Utensils in trade monies and Securities for money Goods Chattels personal and testamentary Estate and Effects whatsoever and wheresoever (subject to the payment of my Debts Legasy funeral Expenses and the Costs of proving and executing the Trusts of this my Will) I give and bequeath unto the said Richard PAUL and James Britnell WINGYETT their Executors Administrators and Assigns upon the Trusts and for the Ends intents and purposes hereinafter mentioned expressed and declared of concerning the same that is to say Upon Trust to permit and suffer my said wife Mary WINGYETT and her Assigns to have hold possess and enjoy my said personal Estate Stock and Utensils have and to receive the interest dividends and produce thereof for her and their own use and benefit for and during the term of her natural life or widowhood which ever shall first happen and from and immediately after her decease or second Marriage then I give and bequeath the same and every part thereof unto the said Mary and Mathew WINGYETT, James Brittnell WINGYETT William WINGYETT Charlotte KINGWELL and Jane WINGYETT and also to my said Grandchildren Ann and Mary BASS (it being also my intention that my said Grandchildren shall enjoy this share in my personal Effects which I intended for their said Mother equally to be divided between them share and share alike and if either of them shall die in my lifetime or in the lifetime of my said wife the share of the person so dying shall go to the Survivors and I direct that out of the Share of the Said Lands and personal Effects which my said Son William will be entitled to shall be deducted the sum of one hundred pounds which I lately lent him on his _____ [?renouncing] Business And I desire that within one month after my decease an Inventory and Valuation of all my personal property shall be taken one part thereof to remain with my Wife and another to be delivered to my Executors and do declare that my said Trustees shall not be answerable the one for the other of them nor for any more money than shall come to their respective hands and that they shall be allowed such Costs and Charges as they shall reasonably ___ [?] as such Trustees And I nominate and appoint the said Richard PAUL and James Britnell WINGYETT Executors in Trust of this my Will hereby revoking all former Wills by me made In witness whereof the said Matthew WINGYETT the Testator have to this my last Will and Testament contained on two sheets of paper to the first sheet thereof subscribed my name and to this second and last sheet thereof subscribed my name and set my Seal this seventh Day of December in the Year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eleven

Proved at London 15th October 1812 before the Judge by the Oaths of Richard PAUL and James Britnell WINGYETT the Executors to whom Admon was granted having been first sworn by Comon duly to administer.
