Seventh Report (Second Series) of the Committee to Collect and Tabulate Observations on the Climate of Devon.
Trans. Devon Assoc., 1889, Vol XXI, pp. 117-118.
by
E. E. Glyde, Secretary, pro tem.
Prepared by Michael Steer
The Report was presented at the Association’s July 1889 Tavistock meeting. The Committee had collected and tabulated an abstract of meteorological observations taken during 1888 relating to rainfall, temperature, humidity, and cloud, by several experienced persons scattered throughout Devon, claiming that their comparison afforded a better idea of the climatic variations in the different districts than any generalization might. This index provides a record of the observers who participated in the project and identifies their observation stations. The station at Woodway, Teignmouth, was omitted this year, as only observations of rainfall were taken there, and those were almost identical with the Bitton observations. The station at Bocombe, Torquay was discontinued, and the instruments moved to the Devon Rosery at Torquay.
The Report, from a copy of a rare journal can be downloaded from the Internet Archive. Google has sponsored the digitisation of books from several libraries. These books, on which copyright has expired, are available for free educational and research use, both as individual books and as full collections to aid researchers.
