Eighth Report (Second Series) of the Committee on the Climate of Devon.

Trans. Devon Assoc., 1890, Vol XXII, pp. 53-548.

by

E. E. Glyde, Secretary, Hon. Sec.

Prepared by Michael Steer

The Report was presented at the Association’s July 1890 Barnstaple meeting. The Committee had collected and tabulated an abstract of meteorological observations taken during 1889 relating to rainfall, temperature, humidity, and cloud, by several experienced persons scattered throughout Devon, claiming that their comparison afforded a better idea of the climatic variations in the different districts than any generalization might. This index provides a record of the observers who participated in the project and identifies their observation stations. The station at Castle College, Torquay, had been during the year discontinued; its place filled in the Report by observations made at Hobart Terrace, Lipson Road, Plymouth. The Report, from a copy of a rare journal can be downloaded from the Internet Archive. Google has sponsored the digitisation of books from several libraries. These books, on which copyright has expired, are available for free educational and research use, both as individual books and as full collections to aid researchers.
