When the Saxons came to Devon

Trans. Devon. Assoc. vol. 51 (1919) pp. 152-168.

by

J.J. Alexander

Prepared by Michael Steer

This paper was presented at the Association's July 1919 Tiverton meeting. Its author's purpose was to convey fresh new facts about the Saxon conquest of Devon that had come to light in the 40 year period since James Bridges Davidson had his paper on the topic published in the Transactions, since he asserts; opinions once widely held have been revised as a result of more careful study. Google with the Archive Organization has sponsored the digitisation of books from several libraries. The Internet Archive makes available, in its Community Texts Collection (originally known as Open Source Books), books that have been digitised by Google from a number of libraries. These are books on which copyright has expired, and are available free for educational and research use. The copy of this rare book is held in the Library of Princeton University, and is available from the Internet Archive.
