Effects sworn under £100

In the Name of God Amen. This is the last Will and Testament of me Stephen Ward of the Town and Parish of Holsworthy in the County of Devon, Malster. First I give devise and bequeath unto my Beloved wife, Elizabeth Ward, the land in fee of all my Malt houses Dwelling Houses outhouses and gardens and all of which I now occupy called Denthams and late Blakes situate in the said Town and Parish of Holsworthy and said County of Devon with all my Household Goods Plate and furniture so long as she shall remain a Widow. But my will is that should my Said Wife marry again after my decease than and in that case I give devise and bequeath all my said Malt Houses Dwelling houses outhouses and gardens and all of which I now occupy called Denthams and late Blakes and all my Household Goods plate and furniture unto my Sons John Ward, Richard Ward, Thomas Webb Ward and Stephen Ward equally to be divided between them at the discretion of my joint Trustees hereinafter named. Also the rest residue and remainder of my real and personal Estate Goods Chattels [............] Bills Bonds and Securities for money of what nature or kind soever and wheresoever I give devise and bequeath unto my said wife Elizabeth Ward who I make my whole and sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament she paying my just debts funeral and testamentary Expences according to the true intent and meaning hereof and I do hereby utterly revoke and dis[......] all and every other former will or wills and bequeaths by me in any wise made ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament and lastly I do hereby autherise appoint make and ordain my three friends Mr Richard Webb (Yeoman), Mr Thomas Webb (Yeoman) and Mr Francis Thorne (Ironmonger) all of the said Parish of Holsworthy and County aforesaid to be joint Trusts for my Said Wife Elizabeth Ward and for my said Sons John Ward, Richard Ward, Thomas Webb Ward and Stephen Ward and that the said Trust shall be at liberty to reimburse themselves all reasonable costs charges and expences out of my Freehold and other property in performing the said Trust reposed in them for they having my said Will fulfilled according to the true intent and meaning hereof. In Witness hereof I the said Stephen Ward have hereunto set my hand and seal to this my last Will and Testament this Second day of November one thounsand eight hundred and thirty eight.
