by

T.N. Brushfield

Devon Notes and Queries Queries vol. 2, no. 8, (1903) pp. 242-246.

Prepared by Michael Steer

This inventory of trade and domestic goods is dated 1690 and was made by a tradesman of Honiton. The original is written on a parchment roll almost eight feet in length. It mentions the names of several local men, as well as a complete list of household furnishings and fittings, as well as the machinery and stock in trade of a local tobacco manufacturer. Google with the Archive Organization has sponsored the digitisation of books from several libraries. The Internet Archive makes available, in its Community Texts Collection (originally known as Open Source Books), books that have been digitised by Google from a number of libraries. These are books on which copyright has expired, and are available free for educational and research use. This rare book was produced from a copy held by the New York Public Library, and is available from the Internet Archive.
