First Report of the Committee to Obtain Information as to Peculiar Tenures of Land

Trans. Devon Assoc., Vol. 12, (1880), pp. 152-157.

by

Edward Windeatt

Prepared by Michael Steer

The Report, read at the Association's July 1880 Totnes meeting presented information on Torrington Commons and Castle Gard, Slapton Manor and Beating the Bounds of the Erme. These examples are intended to illustrate peculiarities of land tenure and manorial customs in ancient Devon. Google with the Archive Organization has sponsored the digitisation of books from several libraries. The Internet Archive makes available, in its Community Texts Collection (originally known as Open Source Books), books that have been digitised by Google from a number of libraries. These are books on which copyright has expired, and are available free for educational and research use. This rare book was produced from a copy held by the Princeton University Library, and is available from the Internet Archive.
