LANDCROSS, a parish in the hundred of SHEBBEAR,county of DEVON, 2½ miles (S. by E.) from Bideford,containing 83 inhabitants. The living is a dischargedrectory, in the archdeaconry of Barnstaple, anddiocese of Exeter, rated in the king's books at £5.4.9.,endowed with £600 royal bounty, and in the patronageof Lord Rolle. The church is dedicated to the HolyTrinity. General Monk, afterwards Duke of Albermale,was born here in 1608.
