The Committee’s Report was read at the Association’s July 1877 Kingsbridge meeting. The Committee’s purpose was to note and record the current and past use of any Verbal Provincialisms in Devonshire, in either written or spoken language, that were not included in the lists published in the Association’s Transactions. At this, its first meeting, Committee members developed and approved an extensive framework aimed at ensuring uniformity of action in its data collection practices.  The Report, from a copy of a rare and much sought-after journal can be downloaded from the Internet Archive. Google has sponsored the digitisation of books from several libraries. These books, on which copyright has expired, are available for free educational and research use, both as individual books and as full collections to aid researchers.
