Will of Richard Challice 1871

This is the last Will and Testament of me Richard Challice of the parish of Lapford in the County of Devon Farmer. I give and bequeath unto my wife Anne Challice all that my dwellinghouse gardens and premises with all the appurtenances belonging thereto situated in the village of Lapford aforesaid and in the occupation of John Northcott and William Challice. I also give and bequeath unto my said wife Anne Challice all my farming stock all my household furniture and all my money together with all my effects and property of every or any kind or description belonging to me for her the said Anne Challice my wife's own absolute use benefit and control 9subject nevertheless to the payment of all my just debts and my funeral and my testamentary expenses for so long as she the said Anne Challice my wife shall remain my widow. But should my said wife Anne Challice contract matrimony after my decease then I will and direct that the whole of my property of every kind and description shall be immediately divided among the whole of my children (or those of them who may be living at the time) in equal shares, share and share alike. But if my said wife Anne Challice does not contract matrimony after my decease then I will and direct that whatever may be left of my property of any kind at her my said wife Anne Challice's decease shall be divided among the whole of my children who may be living at the time in equal shares share and share alike And I hereby appoint my said wife Anne Challice as my sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this fourth day of March one thousand eight hundred and seventy one.Richard Challice (seal) testator Signed sealed and declared by the Testator in the presence of us who in the presence of each other, and of the testator have hereunto set our hands as witnesses.

Proved at Exeter the 14th day of June 1871 by the Oath of Anne Challice Widow the Relict the sole Executrix to whom Administration was granted.

The Testator Richard Challice was late of Lapford in the County of Devon Farmer and died on the 14th day of May 1871 at Lapford aforesaid
