IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN, I, JOHN BROWN,
of the Village and Parish of Lifton, in the County of Devon, being of weak habit
of Body but of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding and
knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this
my last Will and Testament recommending my Soul to the Almighty God who gave
it and my Body to the Earth to be buried in a decent Christian like manner at the
discretion of my Executrix and as to the worldly goods it hath pleased the Almighty
God to bless me with I give devise and bequeath in manner as follows.

First I give and bequeath unto each of my Brothers and Sisters who may survive
me the sum of one pound of lawful money currant in Great Britain to be
paid within one year after my decease. Secondly and lastly I make ordain and
appoint my beloved Sister Thomazin Arscott Brown my whole and sole
Executrix of this my last Will and Testament of all monies securities of money
and every other thing I shall or may die possessed of after paying any just debts
and the legacies of this my Will. And I do hereby revoke disalow [sic] and disappoint
all and every other Will or Wills heretofore made by me in any wise notwithstanding
this my last Will and Testament.

In witness whereof I have hereunto set
my hand and seal this second day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and fourty [sic].

Signed sealed published pronounced and declared by the said John Brown
as his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who [in the presence of us who] [being stroked
through] in his presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names the
day and year above written.
