MARTINHOE, a parish in the hundred of SHERWILL, county of DEVON, 12 miles (E. by N.) from Ilfracombe, containing 204 inhabitants. The living is a discharged rectory, in the archdeaconry of Barnstaple, and diocese of Exeter, rated in the king's books at £8. 10. 10., and in the patronage of G. Courtenay, Esq. The church is dedicated to St. Martin.
