Rev Taylor's paper provides detailed insights into the parish accounts of St Constantine Church, Milton Abbot, near Tavistock. The parish account entries are compared with parish register entries to conclude that the former are indeed genuine. There has been a church on that site since 1155. The present church is mostly 15th Century with traces of 14th Century work. The church records (baptisms, marriages and burials) were first recorded in 1654, but parish accounts date from 1588. The church is surrounded by a large cemetery with many graves some from the 1600s. The parish war memorial stands in the cemetery. Google with the Archive Organization has sponsored the digitisation of books from several libraries. These are books on which copyright has expired, and are available free for educational and research use.
