Will of John Boon - 1827

In the name of God Amen I John Boon of the Town and Parish of Modbury in the County of Devon being sick and weak of Body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God therefore calling unto mind the mortality of my Body knowing that it is appointed unto all men once to die do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hands of Almighty God that gave it and my Body I recommend to the earth to be buried in decent Christian Burial at the discretion of my Executors nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the almighty power of God and as touching such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life I give demise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form First I give and bequeath to John Boon my eldest son the Public House by the name of the Maltman's Arms in the Town of Modbury so long as the lives live paying to his sister Sarah the wife of James Hosking the sum of Five pounds per annum of good and lawful money of Great Britain free from any outgoings whatever if the said Sarah Hosking dieth and the life or lives is living on the said leasehold, Maltmans Arms, then the five Pounds per Annum to be payable to the children of Sarah Hosking until the lives are dead for their use and benefit Also I give and bequeath to William Boon my second son the sum of Fifty pounds of good and lawful money of England which sum of Thirty pounds of the above Fifty pounds is in the Savings Bank of Devonport and a Silver Table spoon -; I also give to my Daughter Elizabeth Scoble All that Dwelling House of Land situated in Poundwell Street Modbury but if the said Elizabeth Scoble dieth without children the said Dwelling House to come to Brother and Sisters if all are living to be their property alike if one or two are dead to be his or her or theirs their Heirs executors administrators or assigns And I do confirm this and no other to be my last Will and Testament -; In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this fifth day of April in the year or our Lord, One thousand eight hundred and twenty seven -; Signed sealed and declared by the said John Boon as his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who in his presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names                  John Boon
