IN the Goods of James Taverner late of Moretonhampstead in the County of Devon Husbandman Deceased}
Appeared personally Thomas Battershill of Moretonhampstead aforesaid Yeoman the Executor In trust named the last Will and Testament of the said James Taverner deceased

Who died on the 26th Day of August 1832 and made Oath, that he hath made diligent search and due enquiry after and in respect of the Personal Estate and Effects of the said Deceased, in order to ascertain the full Amount and Value thereof; and that to the best of his Knowledge, Information, and Belief, the whole of the Goods, Chattels, and Credits of which the said Deceased died possesed within the Diocese of Exeter (exclusive of what the Deceased may have been possessed of, or entitled to as a Trustee for any other Person or Persons, and not beneficially, but including the Leasehold Estate for Years of the Deceased whether absolute or determinable on Lives, and without deducting any thing on Amount of the Debts due and owing from the Deceased) are under the value of One hundred pounds to the best of this Deponent's Knowledge, Information and Belief. And the Deponent lastly made Oath, that the said Deceased was not possessed of or entitled to any Leasehold Estate or Estate for Years, either absolute or determinable on a Life or Lives, to the best of this Deponent's Knowledge, Information , and Belief.

This is the last Will and Testament of me James Taverner of Moretonhampstead in the County of Devon Husbandman I Give to my son John Taverner of Lustleigh Husbandman ten shillings to be paid him within the months next after my death I Give to Thomas Battershill of Moretonhampstead Pensioner and Yeoman his Executor an administrators all my money in the Savings Bank at Exeter and Securities for money and all my household Goods and Furniture wearing apparel Books Prints and Pictures Clock Watch Bed performed on which I now lie two Iron Pots and earthenware and all other my Estate and property of what nature or kind soever and wheresoever situate. To hold the same unto the said Thomas Battershill his Executors administrators and assigns Upon Trust that he the said Thomas Battershill his Executors and administrators shall and do deliver over to my Daughter Elizabeth the wife of Walter Hutchings of Moretonhampstead aforesaid Stone Cutter such parts of my property and Effects as shall not consist of Money as she shall desire and convert the other parts thereof into money and do and shall stand preferred of my money and Securities for money and all other my property when converted into money in the first place to pay my Funeral Expences and the Expences of proving this my Will my just Debts and my reasonable Charges and Expences which the said Thomas Battershill his Executors or Administrators shall incur or take in the Execution of the Trusts of this my Will and Also any fees to Counsel or Solicitors for advice touching my said Trust Estate and property and then do and shall stand preferred of the residue thereof Upon Trust for the sole and separate use of my Daughter the said Elizabeth the wife of said Walter Hutchings of Moretonhampstead aforesaid Stone Cutter and to be applied paid and disposed of from time to time by the said Thomas Battershill his Executors or administrators as my said Daughter alone and notwithstanding her present or any future Coverture shall by any note of writing under her hand direct require or appoint the same and in the mean time invest the same at Interest as my Daughter shall wish as aforesaid and pay the Interest from time to time to be received into her own hands for her separate use and I do declare that my said Daughter Elizabeth's Receipt alone shall be at all times sufficient discharges to my said Trustee for all monies thereby expressed to be received and that her Husband shall have nothing whatever to do therewith and I appoint the said Thomas Battershill Executor
In Trust of this my Will In Witness whereof I the said Testator have to this my last Will and Testament contained in one sheet of Paper Signed my name and affixed my Seal this twenty fourth day of August One thousand eight hundred and thirty two.
