HUISH (NORTH), a parish in the hundred ofSTANBOROUGH, county of DEVON, 4¾ miles (N. E.) fromModbury, containing 440 inhabitants. The living is arectory, in the archdeaconry of Totness, and diocese ofExeter, rated in the king's books at £29. 18. 11½., andin the patronage of Sir John Perring, Bart. Here isan almshouse, endowed, in 1517, by T. Tremayne, Esq.The river Avon separates this parish from that of Diptford.
