Executor Thomas Bishop of Offwell yeoman


In the name of God Amen I Henry Bishop of the parish of Offwell in the County of Devon yeoman do make my last Will and testament in manner and form following that is to say 

First I commend my Soul into the hands of almighty God who gave it me my body to the dust from whence it was taken to be decently interred by and at the discretion of my executors hereinafter mentioned

And as to such worldly wealth as it hath pleased Almighty God to bless me with I give devise and bequeath the same in manner and form following that is to say 

I give and bequeath unto my son in law John Tucker one pound. Also I give to my grand son John Tucker one pound. 

All the rest residue and remainder of my goods chattels money bills bonds or money due upon bond and all other estate whatsoever and wheresoever after payment of my just debts and funeral expenses I give devise and bequeath the same to my children to be parted and equally divided after my wife’s decease

My son Henry Bishop being deceased I give and bequeath to his family their father’s part to be received and enjoyed by them. 

If one of any other children should die before me leaving any offspring I give and bequeath to them their father’s or mother’s part to be by them received and enjoyed my wife to have the lawful interest of my property during her natural life 

And I do order constitute and appoint my children whole and sole executors of this my last Will and Testament and I do hereby utterly disallow revoke and annul all and every other former Testaments Wills Legacies and executors by one in any ways before named wills and bequeathed ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my Last Will and Testament. 

I do also appoint John and Noah Bishop my sons as Trusts for the family to manage the affairs. 

In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 27 day of February in the year of Our Lord 1821
