The report was submitted at the Association’s July 1901 Exeter meeting. The section on the Plymouth Proprietary Library MSS Collection is an extract from it. The deeds recorded in the report provide a large number of surnames, and the deeds vary in type through the Tudor then Civil War, to the Restoration period. The Proprietary Library is one of Plymouth's oldest historic institutions, founded in 1810. It was originally situated at the centre of the City in Cornwall Street, but was bombed in World War Two and moved to a pleasant mid-Victorian house at the top of North Hill after the war. In 2018 it relocated to the old church in St Barnabas Terrace. It is a Registered Charity operated by a Committee of Trustees elected by the members (who are known as Subscribers) at each Annual General Meeting. The report is from a copy of a rare and much sought-after journal that can be downloaded from the Internet Archive. Google has sponsored the digitisation of books from several libraries.
