ROMAN SLEIGH

"ROMAN SLEIGH, a parish in the hundred of Witheridge, county Devon, 3 miles S.E. of South Molton, its post town. The village, which is of small extent, is situated on the Roman way which came from near Taunton and went to Stratton. The inhabitants are wholly engaged in agriculture. It is a meet for the Eggesford hounds. The glebe comprises 150 acres. The living is a rectory* in the diocese of Exeter, value £183. The church is dedicated to St. Rumon. There is a Sunday-school."
