In the name of god amen. The seventh daye of October in the yeare of our lorde god a thousand and five hundred eightie three. I William Vicarie of the parishe of Roshashe als Aishraff being sick of bodye and perfect of remembrance laude and prayse be to almightie god doo make this my last will and testament in manner and forme following, ffirst I give and bequeathe my soule unto almighty god my maker and my bodye to the grave. Then I give unto the pore of Ayshraf five shillinge. Then I give unto the pore of Bishops Nymet five shillinge. Then I give and bequeathe to Alexander Vicarie my sonne one hundred poundes after my decease. And to the said Alexander my sonne my best bedd and my best bedsted performed after the decease of his mother. Also I give to my saide sonne Alexander Vicarie twentie ewes and two heafers imediatly after my decease. And I give to Alexander my sonne my best brasen crock and halfe a dozen of silver spoones the best and my best broch and my best wayne and all the plough geare and my best red brasen panne after the decease of his mother. Then I give unto John Vicarie my sonne my other best bedsted and my other best performed. And to the saide John Vicarie my third best panne and my other best broch and the other best cart and the other best wheeles and the other best halfe dozen of spoones after his mother’s decease. Then I give to Julian my wife’s daughter twentie poundes and two silver spoones imediatly after my decease. Then I give and bequeathe to Charitie Tassell my daughter my best cow savinge one and twentie sheepe halfe ewes and halfe weathers by and by after my decease and two silver spoones after her mother’s decease. Also I give to the foresaide Charitie my daughter one heafer of two years of age by and by after my decease. Then I give to Richard Vosey my servaunt the sonne of John Voseye twentie shillinge. Then I give to Margaret my servaunt the daughter of John Vosey twentie shillinge more. All this fortie shillinge aforesaid remaynethe in their father’s handes being parte of the debt whiche the saide John Voysey owethe me. Then I give to all my godchildren unmarried a sheepe a peece. Also Thomas Takell owythe me seaven poundes. Then I give to Margery Vicarie one platter. And I doo owe Robert Takell fortie shillinge. The residue of all my goodes nott given nor bequeathed I give and bequeathe to Joane my wife whom I make the wholl executrix of this my last will and testament. And I doo make and ordeyne constitute and appoynte Alexander Takell, Henry Vicarie my brother and John ffinn to be my rulers to see my will truly to be fulfilled, performed and kept according to the trew tenor and meaning hereof. And theis my saide rulers to have four their paynes and labour thre shillinge a peece.
