SHOBROOKE, a parish in the western division of the hundred of BUDLEIGH, county of DEVON, 2 miles (E. N. E..) from Crediton, containing, exclusively of a portion of the tything of Fulford which is in this parish, 737 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, annexed to the bishoprick. of Exeter, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Exeter, rated in the king's books at £36. There is a place of worship for Independents. Various bequests, producing about £6 a year, are applied to the education of poor children.
