Will of Isabella Usherwood, Spinster of Stoke Damerel (1848)

This is my last Will and Testament I Isabella Usherwood of Slade Cottage Blake Street Morice Town in the Parish of Stoke Damerel in the County of Devon spinster I give and bequeath to my sister Sarah Ann Hockaday wife of Lawrence Hockaday all my jewellery and wearing apparel I give and bequeath to my executors hereinafter named the sum of one hundred pounds in trust to deposit the same in the Devonport Savings Bank in their own names and to pay the interest to my niece Isabella Ann Boddington untill she shall attain the age of forty years and in the event of her attaining that age then upon trust to lay out and invest the said sum of one hundred pounds in the purchase of an annuity for the said Isabella Ann Boddington But in case the said Isabella Ann Boddington shall happen to die before attaining the said age of forty years then I give and bequeath the aforesaid sum of one hundred pounds in the manner following that is to say the sum of eighty pounds to be equally divided between my said brother Robert Theodore Usherwood and my said sister Sarah Ann Hockaday and the remaining sum of twenty pounds to Edward Boddington in case he shall outlive his daughter the said Isabella Ann Boddington but in the event of his dying before her then the whole of the said one hundred pounds to be equally divided between my said brother and sister Robert Theodore Usherwood and Sarah Ann Hockaday All the rest residue and remainder of my goods chattels and effects of what nature or kind soever I give and bequeath unto my mother Sarah Usherwood and I do hereby nominate and appoint the said Robert Theodore Usherwood and Lawrence Hockaday Executors of this my will hereby revoking all other wills by me at any time heretofore made In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this thirteenth day of November one thousand eight hundred and forty eight_ Isabella Usherwood
