In the name of God Amen I Elianor Downing of Watton within the parish of Stoke Gabriell in the Countie of Devon Widdowe being perfect of minde and memory thankes be to God Doe make this my last Will and Testament in manner and forme following and first I give and bequeath my Soule unto God that gave it unto me and my Bodie to the Earth to be buried in the parish of Stoke Gabriell in Christian buriall hoping through the merritts of Jesus Christ of a joyfull resurrection unto Everlasting life Item I give unto the poore people of Stoke Gabriell ten Groates Item I give unto my sonne John Downing twelve pence Item I give unto my sonne William Downing Twelve pence Item I give unto my Sonne Richard Downing twelve pence Item I give unto my Grandchild John Downing sonne of John Downing all the arrear.... of rent or profits due unto mee from his said ffather John Downing issueing out of a peece of Land in ffeild which was exchanged for the Little Meadows att Water Poole The rest of my Goods and Chattells not given and bequeathed I doe give unto Nicholas Shephheard my Lord Esq to satisfye himself of all rents dues debts abd demands whatsoever as due unto him and all my debts wheresoever else to any other person and my ffuneral Charges and whatsoever else should remaine in his hands over and above I doe desire him to distribute equallie betweene my Daughters Elianor Towser and Katherine Torring And him the said Nicholas Shepheard I make Constitute and appoynte myne Executor of this my last Will and Testament In Witnesse whereof I have hereunto Sett my hand and Seale Yeaven the fower and twentieth day of Januarie One Thousand six hundred ffiftie and fower The marke of Elianor Downing in the presence of Peter Bartoll William Bushell marke of John Torring marke Robert Torring

Memorandum that I Elianor Downing The Testatrix of the Will hereunto annexed being now of perfect minde and memory Doe notwithstanding the said Will give and bequeath unto my Sonne William Downing my Two hogsheads with Cyder being ffrench Caske or other Two for them in case they are disposed of by mee or my order provided I am deceased out of this life before this day Twelve moneths In Wittnesse whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and Seale yeaven the thirtieth day of September in the yeare of our Lord One thousand six hundred ffiftie and seaven Signe of Elianor Downing Sealed Signed and published in the presence of Nicholas Shepheard ffrancis Shepheard
