I Philip Bowen of Stowford in the County of Devon being at this time of a sound mind Do declare this to be my last Will and Testament and by this instrument do revoke all other wills made and executed by me ffirst I appoint my friend Joseph Stubbs of London as my Executor in trust for my daughter Elizabeth Rivers and her children and in the event of his death do desire that William and Henry Wills Tobacconists of Bristol be the trustees under this Will and in the event of their death before the business of the Trusteeship should be ended that ffrederick Wills should continue the same I desire that my property should be managed to the best advantage so that my daughter should enjoy the benefit of it for her natural life And after that to be equally divided amongst her children And I hereby authorise the trustee or trustees to act in disposing of my effects of every kind as he or they may consider most advantageous for my daughter and her children taking care that the portions that may be coming to the children in the death of their Mother be exclusively and separately settled on them so that in the event of marriage it may be retained for their sole benefit And if my daughter should die before her children or either of them attain the age of twenty one years the portions belonging to such or either of them be held by the trust and used in the most advantageous manner by being placed in Government securities the interest accruing from which be applied to the use of the child or children that may be under the age above specified and after the age of twenty one to have the principal at their disposal but secured as before directed And I do hereby direct that whatever expences or costs of every kind whatever the trustee or trustees may be liable to in the management of my property at any time during their trust either by .... or otherwise may be taken from the funds arising out of their trust so that he or they may be kept harmless Dated Stowford Novr 25 1829 Signed Phillip Bowen in the presence of the Revd Robert Savage Rector of Harford _ George Webster Servant _ John Fox Servant
