SYDENHAM-DAMAREL, a parish forming, with the parish of Lamerton, a distinct portion of the hundred of LIFTON, county of DEVON, 5¼ miles (W. by N.) from Tavistock, containing 288 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Totness, and diocese of Exeter, rated in the king's books at £10. 6. 8., and in the patronage of John Carpenter, Esq. The church is dedicated to St. Mary. The river Tamar separates the parish from Cornwall. A copper mine formerly in operation is now neglected.
